Growth comes when you’re uncomfortable. Ask for help to learn the skills and tactics you need to know. What software did you use? How did you know what to do and when to do it? Ask for that help. Don’t just sit there and struggle and feel stuck. Take that courage inside of you and use it to ask for the help that you need to learn the skills and tactics that are going to get you to the next level.
Quote from the livestream
I use the words entrepreneur, small business owner, content creator, and encore entrepreneur frequently and interchangeably, so I want to establish what I mean and who I am speaking about.
An entrepreneur to me is a person working on growing a business from home through online and in-person networking.
They have these characteristics and follow the best business practices.
An entrepreneur creates and shares value by offering ideas and solutions to people who need their help.
The goal of the entrepreneur is to help people improve their lives and businesses by solving a specific problem or tackling a common challenge.
An entrepreneur tests their idea for a product or service by telling prospective customers about it and asking for their feedback.
They continue to perfect the product or service to best fit the needs of their ideal customer.
Then they build messaging and price their product or service to make it an irresistible offer.
Entrepreneurs hold a vision for the future while working each day on the steps to make their vision a reality.
Entrepreneurs must be resilient and determined when their attempts to create a successful business come up against difficulties.
They face uncertainty in the economy and in their own industry every day, but they must continue to strive for excellence and success.
To stand out as exceptional in a crowded and noisy marketplace, the entrepreneur needs to expand in visibility and credibility.
The most effective way to get a clear and intentional message out to an audience so they can make an informed decision about working with you is through content marketing.
Design your message to connect your solution to the problems experienced by your target customers. Then share your message through the various formats and platforms available online, focusing on the ones where your target audience is most likely to find you.
Social media platforms vary in the way they cater to their primary audience. Claim your business domain on each platform, but concentrate on the one that your target audience uses most often.
The video format is the most engaging because it offers visual and auditory information. Your audience gets to know your face and your voice as well as your unspoken body language.
Speaking directly into a listener’s ears is an intimate bonding experience. If your message is inviting and interesting, you can build loyalty in your audience.
Podcasts have the added advantage of allowing the user to multitask while listening. Your audio messages become their infotainment to keep their mind occupied while they are busy with mundane tasks.
Companies with blogs average 67% more leads than those without blogs. You engage those people who love to read and if they resonate with your message and tone, they will take actions recommended by your content.
Newsletters come with the commitment of a subscription where people opt to hear from you at least once a week. They have shown a preference for your writing and your message.
This is your warmest audience and they are the most likely to share your content and buy your products.
They may start out as audience members, but we hope they will become customers and start sending money our way.
How do we make that happen?
It is important to know who you are speaking to when you livestream every week.
The more specific you can be about who you want in your target audience, the more likely it is you will attract them.
I started by defining my ideal client as an encore entrepreneur in the second half of life. Somebody who is setting up or expanding their home-based business using content marketing to gain visibility and credibility.
I thought about social media platforms my ideal client might prefer to use. I settled on YouTube and LinkedIn.
Next, I focused on groups or associations that my ideal client might seek or belong to. I realized that SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, could be a great place to connect with encore entrepreneurs, whether they are volunteering or looking for mentorship there.
For encore entrepreneurs who want to expand their online presence, their problems center on learning and using technology for livestreaming and podcasting.
A secondary problem for them, as well as all content creators, is producing and distributing content consistently.
One way I attract and relate to my target audience is by using the content marketing strategies I teach to build my own online presence and brand.
I also tell stories and share about my life so they understand I am a regular person who livestreams and podcasts.
That encourages their belief that they can do it too.
Consistent content marketing will help increase brand awareness and develop a pipeline of qualified leads.
A framework also helps you streamline processes so you save time and money.
The Content Consistency Framework encourages the automatic distribution of content using Streamyard to schedule and multi-stream live videos to several social media sites.
Post on social media hundreds more times using a social media scheduling app like Social Web Suite.
Repurposing content by using the audio for podcasts and the text for blogs is only the start. You can also use quotes and clips to direct people back to the full-length content.
The Content Consistency Schedule helps you put the necessary tasks in the right order so you stay prepared and consistent in your content marketing.
It is essential to establish the minimums you must do each week to maintain a consistent output of content. When you know exactly what is required, then you can get your content out, even when you are extra busy or you need to spend time with your family.
Schedule weekly recurring tasks on your calendar and check them off every day. It can be as simple as adding them to your written or Google calendar or you can use a to-do list app if that helps you get things done.
Plan and schedule quarterly campaigns such as releasing a course, taking part in or hosting a summit or giveaway, writing and releasing a book, a live challenge, or a product launch. Plot the tasks on your calendar working backward from the launch date.
Stand out online as an authentic expert, connect with your target audience and quickly create engaging content every week when you get my How to Create, Publish, and Distribute Content Consistently Course.
Beginners and encore entrepreneurs can easily learn the steps to use the Content Consistency Framework and Schedule for Weekly Content Marketing.
Many people struggle for years to succeed in their small businesses. They try several tactics and strategies but never seem to make it through to the next level.
There are many reasons for this, including they may have no awareness of the possibilities and different paths they could take. They might get stuck behind an obstacle they see no way around and give up.
Some people need instruction, a plan, or a strategy that will use their knowledge or skill to build a kind of business they had not envisioned or realized was possible.
Fear of change and rejection will hold some creators back from success because they are afraid to publish and share what they create. Or they may not want to change their method of creating to make it more accessible to online buyers.
Many people lack self-belief. They worry people will judge and criticize their work as not good enough.
Even I have felt embarrassed to be seen starting small. When I attended a Zoom coaching call this past week to learn more about Facebook and Instagram ads, the instructor advised we would need to experiment.
She said, “Start small with $10 a day and see what works.”
I thought, “She thinks $10 a day is small? I don’t belong here.”
People who fail as entrepreneurs often feel alone and unsure. They don’t have support or a community that can help them learn and grow.
You may think you need a specific strategy, the right equipment, and apps, or an amazing business plan or website. But many have succeeded without those.
What you cannot succeed without are:
Livestreaming for the first time is uncomfortable. Telling people about your podcast and inviting guests on for interviews can be uncomfortable, too. Putting yourself on display as an expert thought leader can give you anxiety, and impostor syndrome stops you from sharing your wisdom with the world.
But when you do it anyway and keep on doing it, the discomfort will fade.
You can watch YouTube videos, ask questions in social media groups or memberships, get private coaching or connect with a mentor. Gaining skills and tactics is easier than ever.
Sharing your vision with others whenever you have the chance will lead to support and opportunities. When you ask for the specific help you need, people are happy to give you ideas and resources.
Like most things in life, you’ve got to start doing the thing before you can practice enough to get good at it. Expect the beginning to be messy but know that it will get better.
Most content creators have to practice their craft for at least 18 months before they get good enough to earn a regular income from their work.
It will help you be consistent in your efforts if you understand why it is so important.
Practice and perfect your presentations every week and you will gain focus and clarity, and create stronger, more irresistible offers over time. Ask for feedback from your audience and use their suggestions and questions to improve your content.
You will reach more people the longer you stick with your consistent messaging and offers through your content marketing. People who find you in month 8 didn’t know you existed in month 7, so keep going.
When you build momentum through consistent content marketing, it leads to opportunities you wouldn’t have imagined.
You may open your email one day to find an offer for collaboration or somebody asking for your help. You might get a direct message telling you how helpful your content is or how it changed somebody’s life for the better.
Build trust by showing up with your aligned message every week. Your audience will come to expect and appreciate the value you provide in your content.
An entrepreneur needs a contribution mindset rather than an “it’s all about me making money” attitude.
“You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people to get what they want.”
Zig Ziglar
Content marketing is not about showing the world how smart you are, it’s about helping your customers have a better life. To do that, connect with them so they feel you understand their needs because you’ve been there and done that. Then you found a better way.
Show them your better way, but only after they know why and how it is better.
Knowledge, advice, tips, tools, news, and useful information are valuable. Entertainment and encouragement add even more value to the advice you offer.
Offering a shortcut to success or feeling better will give your audience a reason to trust you and develop loyalty to your brand.
People do not remember facts, dates, and figures, but they do remember stories that contain such facts.
We are programmed to pay attention to stories, especially when they have sensory details, evoke emotion, and have a discernible beginning, middle, and end.
Remember, people do not achieve success when they do not see the possibilities or recognize their potential.
The purpose of content marketing is to help your target audience understand their potential to succeed and the possibilities that are available to them.
As you develop a platform, use it to make the world a better place by encouraging people to rise up and live better lives.
Empower them to take action if you want them to reach out to you for solutions.
I encourage you to explore your potential for success through content creation and marketing to expand your brand and business.
