Pamela is re-writing the “create a $17 product to grow your audience” idea that’s so prevalent online. That’s terrible advice, especially when you are an expert on your topic. Her program, The Offer Accelerator, is for online business owners who have an audience and want to create a high-value offer that generates $10-20,000 per month.

DOCTOR: Check in at 10 a.m. next Monday morning. Your surgery will start at noon. Do you have any questions?
ME: Why do so many medical issues pop up the older we get?
The theme for this year has been, “Life is Short!” My husband had surgery in January and is still dealing with cancer therapy and several doctor’s appointments weekly. My mom had a stroke in March and she has doctor visits and physical therapy every week. I’m having a hysterectomy next week with a six-week recovery, including more doctor visits.
There’s got to be more to the second half of life than visiting the doctor!
That’s why I create content and connect with my audience. We all need meaning to give us a reason to get out of bed every day. Especially when life feels like one doctor’s appointment after another.
I’m also putting together a community of like-minded, similarly aged individuals who want to gather to learn new skills and find support while leaving a legacy for younger generations.
“Learning Communities are a way for businesses and students to engage and collaborate with one another on an ongoing basis. They work with courses, memberships, coaching, and events – or as a completely standalone experience. They represent one of the most important developments in online learning to date, and for course creators, the best possible way to build for the future.” – Aron Tremble, Thinkific Blog

Last week on Messages and Methods, we interviewed Pamela Wilson for our episode, Build a Profitable Online Business the Smart Way. We spoke about content creators transitioning into content entrepreneurs.
TOBY: Our audience tends to be senior citizens looking for an encore career. What is the most important thing that you’ve learned that you can share with them?
PAMELA: The most important thing I have learned is that you will be told that you need to just keep creating content and keep building your audience. That is true, but that also postpones generating revenue from your expertise.
What can happen is you start to feel a little like a hamster on a wheel, just creating new blog posts, making new podcast episodes, or posting new YouTube videos.
That makes you feel very busy and very productive.
It’s not that it’s a bad thing. I wrote two books about content marketing, so I’m a huge fan. But you can’t only do that.
You have to focus on how you’re going to generate revenue or else you’ll end up having an expensive hobby and not a true business.
Create content that is more than a fun hobby. That’s the big mistake that I see. Generating content can feel an awful lot like work, so people can get it mixed up with work that actually generates revenue.
But you have to do it with some strategy in mind so that the content you create actually leads to revenue.
The most important thing you can do is think about how you ensure that everything you are devoting time to is actually leading directly to revenue.
The simple way to do that is to work backward. It’s good to have an offer in mind that you’re trying to send people to.
Then you think, what do people need to understand, believe, or know before they become interested in my offer? That’s what your content should be about.
You need to create content that’s not about what you ate for breakfast, or what you’re wearing when you’re on your way out the door. It needs to be content that is created with your ultimate customer in mind, focusing on their objections, challenges, and problems.
How can you take what you do on a daily basis and ensure that you are leading people to desire the solution that you’ve developed for them?
Create content that demonstrates that you have the authority and experience to help them. Explain how you deliver that ultimate result to people in a step-by-step framework.
This week on Messages and Methods, we’ll talk about our Content Consistency Framework and how joining our free membership is the first step to the ultimate result of becoming a successful content entrepreneur. Join us Thursday (8.25.22) at 1 p.m. MDT for Content Creation Strategy Framework for Marketing.
